This section of the screen shows the various financial impact buckets that changes to the chart during an audit can cause.
Total Reimbursement Variance
The total reimbursement variance of the chart. This is the original reimbursement minus the current reimbursement.
Coding Variance
This sub-heading indicates the amount of the variance caused by coding changes. This can include code additions, deletions, revisions, POA modifications on a DX, or PRX changes such as units, modifiers and revenue code changes.
PRX Soft Code Variance
The portion of the coding variance caused by soft code PRX modifications on outpatient charts is displayed in this sub-heading. This will be part of the coding variance total.
PRX Hard Code Variance
The portion of the coding variance caused by hard code PRX modifications on outpatient charts is displayed in this sub-heading. This will be part of the coding variance total.
Data Transfer Variance
An auditor can note that a PRX was not transferred with the import file due to a data transfer error. The data transfer variance is what part of the coding variance is made up of these types of errors.
Discharge Disposition Variance
Any portion of the variance caused by a change to the discharge disposition is displayed here.
Query Variance
Queried line items that have caused a reimbursement variance are totaled and displayed here. The amount of the query variance is not included in the overall variance. This line item shows how much additional variance there would be if all queries were accepted.
RAC Variance
RAC variance is shown here. This value is independent of the overall variance.
Case Management Variance
CM variance is shown here. This value is independent of the overall variance.
MAC Error Variance
MAC variance is shown here. This value is independent of the overall variance.
Denial Variance
Denial variance is shown here. This value is independent of the overall variance.
Pricer Variance
Any variance caused by a pricer change is indicated here. This can happen when a chart is imported into the system and calculated at that time, but the pricer updates prior to the chart being audited.
